About Hipchecks

A girl who loves hockey, hipchecks, and all things goalies (except our own).

Current player obsession: Petr Prucha. Pruuuuuuu!

I grew up in Wisconsin and then smartened up & moved to Phoenix for the weather. I hate snow and ice. Unless it's hockey ice.

I love being able to watch hockey in 90 degree weather. Fan-freaking-tatic! Unless you try wearing a jersey in 90 degree weather.

I have the best of both worlds.

I also love music and marry my two obsessions. I try making song lyrics/titles part of every blog post and sometimes make up songs about hockey.

Last night we ventured out in the winter storm to get to Buffalo Wild Wings so I could watch the Coyotes whoop the Ducks tails. And boy did they. The Coyotes won 4-0. Did the Ducks even bother to show up for this game? Coyotes fans got our Christmas present early. We love watching the Ducks lose!

The best part was when half way through the 3rd the Ducks switched goalies. Really? Really. It's not the goalies fault that the Ducks couldn't score. Ok, well it was technically Bryz's fault but he is no longer a duck. He is a proud desert dog!

Bryz with his 5th shutout of the season! Wow, this is the Bryz that I thought we got a few seasons ago, not the lackluster one of last season.

So who got the 4 goals?? Uppy (I'm telling you that line is on fire. Doan wants in on the Wonder Twin powers). Marty! Seriously, from the blue line. DAMN. Taylor and Lang, both with assists coming from Mueller. Mueller has really played some great hockey these last two home games and it's starting to show. Keep it up Mueller! We love you but we need you to produce like you did your rookie season. No more excuses.

The Coyotes looked really strong in the 2nd. They actually played a full 60 minutes of hockey. They were not going to sit back on their lead and let the Ducks play catch up. This is the kind of effort we need every night. The other keys? We won face-offs, lots of them. We also got a power play goal, which Mueller got the assist on. See? If you work on those key things, you win games. Why don't you boys listen to me more often??

In other news... two of our prospects have been selected to play on their countries world juniors team. Congrats to Oliver Ekman-Larsson and Mike Lee! We are proud of you boys.

For Saturdays game I am doing my first collaboration with another blogger that isn't a Coyotes fan. The Royal Half (Kings blogger) and I will be doing the 5 questions, so look for that to be posted soon!

Jenna, you don't have comments turned on for the blog Q&A with the Royal Half!

I agree with Chris that the power of Ryan Smyth lies entirely in his mullet. I've seen his mullet first hand when he used to live in Edmonton. I kept running into him everywhere, lol.

Good thoughts about the Yotes over at The Royal Half. If the Oilers would have picked up some cheap, no-name vets instead of icing half the Springfield Falcons (Stone, Jacques, Potulny, Reddox, Brule, Chorney, etc), maybe they wouldn't be 15th in the West, lol.

Oh crap. I don't know what I did or how to fix that! Thanks for pointing it out. I will see what I can do to fix it...
